SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish massage involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. A combination of long gliding strokes (effleurage), kneading strokes (petrissage), rhythmic tapping (tapotement), friction and vibration are hallmarks of this style. The benefits of Swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation , decreased stress and muscle tension, and improved range of motion.

DEEP TISSUE

Deep tissue massage offers more detailed attention to "trouble spots" in your body. The massage therapist uses slow, deliberate strokes that focus pressure on layers of muscles, tendons, and their attachments to the nearby bony structures. Though less rhythmic than other types of massage, deep tissue massage may be therapeutic -- relieving chronic patterns of tension and helping with more specific muscle injuries. Deep Tissue and deep pressure are not the same thing. This mostly means the massage will be looking at things from a more detailed perspective.

NEUROMUSCULAR THERAPY

Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) is a precise, thorough examination and treatment of the body’s soft tissues using regionally oriented protocols. These time-tested, hands-on techniques are built upon a science-based foundation and guided by clinical evidence. This evidence is based on the writings of  Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simons. NMT is more commonly associated with the ‘trigger point’; making it a fantastic aid in helping the body change deep patterns of pain and discomfort.

THAI ON THE TABLE

Thai on the table is an adapted form of traditional Thai massage (usually performed on the floor). The client remains fully dressed while the therapist climbs up and down off the table, performing a series of stretches and compressions. This work is done without the use of creams or oils, instead relying on friction and very slow movement to affect change within the fascia and muscle tissue. This style of work looks at the body from a more holistic perspective (e.i. pulling the leg affects the lower back, etc.).

CHAIR MASSAGE

Chair Massage is a form  of bodywork that allows clients to stay fully dressed to receive focused work, typically addressing the upper body and extremities. Chair massage events range from short 5 minute massages at a large outdoor event, to extended 30 minute sessions with an intimate group of friends having a party. I have worked at corporate offices providing employee wellness, hospital events for health fairs, in home spa parties, outdoor festivals as a vendor, and many more locations.
